Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

Empathy 1.B - Staff and Student Well Being

Student and staff well-being must take place before a supportive community or strong academic press can occur. 

  1. Level Creek will implement Community Circles on August 14th.
  2. During Community Circles, teachers will follow lesson plans for the week's theme (respect, growth mindset, empathy, etc).
  3. Community Circle lesson plans for the year will be created by the LCES SEL team. 

The Level Creek administration will observe and monitor the implementation and use of Community Circles within classrooms. in 2023, teachers responded to the EES survey question, "I receive training to support instruction on Social Emotional Learning" in the following categories: 76% positive, 23% neutral, and 2% negative. The percentage of positive respondents will grow to 80% on the survey. 

Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

We will create and follow the necessary processes for each and every student to experience social and academic growth. 

  1. Teachers will meet 2x per week with their Collaborative Learning Team (CLT) to plan instruction, analyze data, create assessments, and engage in professional development.
  2. CLTs will meet monthly to monitor identified students' progress (Kid Talks) and determine the next steps. 
  3. Select teachers will engage in coaching cycles to improve instructional practices. 
  4. Teachers will work with individuals and small groups consistently. 

The percentage of students in grades 1-5 performing on or above grade level on the Reading iReady Assessment will increase.

  • Baseline:  55%

The percentage of students in grades 1-5 performing on or above grade level on the Math iReady Assessment will increase.

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

We will establish conditions under which each and every child receives what they need to develop to their academic and social potential.

  1. Level Creek will continue to work toward increasing the percentage of teachers who are gifted certified. This will provide more teachers with strategies to accelerate and enrich learning for our gifted students. 
  2. All students will spend time in small group instruction in their math and reading classes and Intervention Time on a regular basis for the purpose of remediation or enrichment.  
  3. Identified students in grades K-5 will participate in FOCUS resource classes 3x per week.
  4. Identified students in grades 2-5 will participate in Advanced Content Math. 

The number of 1st-5th gifted teachers will increase.

  • Current number of teachers/total number of gifted teachers: 41/37

To increase the growth of students at Level Creek, we must create goals for each student and be aware of their progress. We will do this through the teachers' Results-Based Evaluation System. 

  1. Teachers will monitor the Typical and Stretch Goals from iReady as well as track the student's Lexile Level within their iReady.
  2. Teachers will work with individuals and small groups consistently. 

The percentage of students in grades 1-5 performing on or above grade level on the Reading iReady Assessment will increase.

Excellence 4.C - World-Class Communication and Engagement

We strive to cultivate school quality, climate, and culture that is student and community-centered.

  1. We will begin to use ParentSquare, the district's new communication tool, and encourage usage with teachers.

  2. We will continue to send our weekly eBlast newsletter and individual teacher or grade newsletters.

  3. We will work with our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to create events and experiences for students and for the community.
