Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

Empathy 1.A - Cultural Competence

Craig Elementary School is committed to increasing the cultural competence of our community.  We strive to increase the knowledge of individual staff members to improve instructional delivery, strengthen programs, and enhance engagement across the full spectrum of our diverse community.

  1. Craig Elementary will continue to utilize the Cultural Responsiveness Team to support the learning and school experience of all students, staff, and community.
  2. Craig Elementary will continue to build the literacy text to represent the diverse community of the school. 
  3. Craig Elementary School will continue to host a Cultural Evening, complemented by monthly recognitions, to showcase our diverse community through Art, Music, Technology, and Literacy. These monthly recognitions will celebrate different cultures, fostering inclusivity and appreciation within our school community 
  4. Craig Elementary School will continue to implement classroom Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Lessons twice a week to grow our classroom community.

Craig Elementary will utilize the EES parent, staff, and student survey to determine growth.  

  1. Craig Elementary School will show an improvement in the Parent ESS Survey on the characteristic of “Belonging” from 71.5% (2024) to 73.5% (2025).
  2. Craig Elementary School will show an improvement in the Student ESS Survey on the characteristic of “Belonging” from 80.7% (2024) to 82.7% (2025).
  3. Craig Elementary School will show an improvement in the Staff ESS Survey on the characteristic of “Cultural Proficiency” from 77.4% (2024) to 79.4% (2025).
Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

Craig Elementary School is committed to implementing a comprehensive framework to fully operationalize a multi-tiered system of supports to address academic and non-academic student needs and remove barriers to success.

  1. Craig Elementary School will continue to utilize Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) to support the behavioral needs of the students.
  2. Craig Elementary School will continue their Multi-Tiered Student Support (MTSS) by implementing a Universal Screener to address academic and social emotional growth of students.
  3. Craig Elementary School will be continue to provide the Play to Learn program to support the development of early childhood growth in the Brookwood community.
  4. Craig Elementary School will continue to expand Academic Knowledge & Skills (AKS)/Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) through Colt Time.  Colt Time is an opportunity to extend and support the learning of students in the areas of math and reading.
  1. Craig Elementary School will show growth on the Reading iREADY assessment by increasing from 66% on typical growth to 68%.
  2. Craig Elementary School will show growth on the Reading iREADY assessment by increasing from 44% on stretch growth to 46%.
  3. Craig Elementary School will show growth on the Math iREADY assessment by increasing from 56% on typical growth to 58%.
  4. Craig Elementary School will show growth on the Math iREADY assessment by increasing from 29% on typical growth to 31%.

 

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

Craig Elementary School is committed to expanding student opportunities to engage in and have access to high quality, rigorous, culturally relevant curriculum, and advanced coursework.  

  1. Craig Elementary School will continue to implement a master schedule that is conducive to providing students with a high-quality, rigorous, and culturally relevant curriculum, including advanced coursework and the implementation of the EL curriculum.
  2. Craig Elementary School is committed to implementing Restorative Practices to ensure students have the opportunity to feel valued and respected. 
  3. Craig Elementary School is committed to ensuring students have access to technology. Students in grades 2-5 will participate in the 1:1 technology transformation.
  1. Craig Elementary School will show an improvement on the ELA Georgia Milestones Assessment (GMAS) by increasing proficient and distinguish levels from 69% (2024) to 70% (2025) in the number students in grades 3-5.
  2. Craig Elementary School will show an improvement on the MA Georgia Milestones Assessment (GMAS) by increasing proficient and distinguish levels from  67% (2024) to 68% (2025) in the number students in grades 3-5.
