Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

Empathy 1.B - Staff and Student Well Being

Lawrenceville Elementary will promote the wellbeing of students and staff by focusing on improvement of EES survey themes relating to student belonging.

 

 

Student Wellbeing

  1. Joyful Learning and Morning Meetings take place every morning in every classroom schoolwide in grades PreK through 5th grade.
  2. Counselors provide whole and small group lessons to support student belonging and wellbeing. 
  3. Counselors provide SEL support during Knight Time in 4th and 5th grades.
  4. The LES SEL lead teacher supports teachers with SEL instruction.
  5. Counselors will lead and support attendance initiatives to reduce chronic absenteeism.
  6. LES will support student behaviors with full implementation of PBIS program. Tier I and Tier II teams will meet regularly and share data with fidelity.
  7. LES staff will increase celebration of students through recognition activities such as student of the week, Best on Bus, and 1st and 2nd semester awards ceremonies.
  8. LES will continue student before and after school clubs. 
  9. Teachers greet students at the door upon arrival.
  10. LES staff will encourage family participation in surveys.

Staff Well-Being

  1. Counselors will lead Take Time Tuesday each month focusing on staff wellbeing.  
  2. Staff shoutouts are included in the weekly Knight News.
  3. Administrators handwrite notes to individual staff members.
  4. New teacher induction program supports new staff and staff with less than 3 years of experience.
  5. Staff share "Why do I LEAD with IMPACT? How do I LEAD with IMPACT" in the Knight News and during meetings to build positive culture and connections.
  6. Staff can share feedback and be involved in decision-making via the principal’s comment box.
  7. LES will provide activities for the staff through the Sunshine Committee.
  8. Staff outings will be planned each semester to promote community and belonging.
  9. Breakfast is provided for the staff on Wednesdays.
  10. LES will improve overall wellbeing and the quality of teachers' work spaces and meeting spaces by providing furniture and amenities that support comfort, good posture, creativity, and calm emotions.

Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

Lawrenceville Elementary will implement a comprehensive multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) to address academic and non-academic student needs and remove barriers to success. Through MTSS, we will implement processes and procedures to identify student needs in order to develop plans to meet the needs of students resulting in an increase in the number of students performing at the developing, proficient, or distinguished levels and an increase in the number of students meeting iReady typical and stretch targets. 

  1. MTSS structures will be maintained by the MTSS coordinators and supported by instructional support staff.
    • We will fully integrate academic press and supportive community structures and processes for tiers 1&2.
    • We will increase strategic alignment, accessibility, and impact of integrated student supports for students identified for tiered interventions. 
    • We will formalize the academic response to intervention (RTI) process to reduce variability and improve fidelity of implementation. 
  2. LES commits to use iReady to set goals, monitor progress, and conduct data talks with students.
  3. LES commits to analyzing and celebrating student academic growth. 
  4. Administrators will conduct weekly individual and group learning walks to observe and support instructional practice. 
  5. Instructional coaches will conduct weekly learning walks to support implementation of CLT learning.
  6. LES will place priority on implementing high quality Tier I instruction. 
  7. LES teachers will provide Tier 2 & 3 interventions according to student needs during the CQI block (Knight Time) for 30 minutes per day.

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

Lawrenceville Elementary will expand student opportunities and establish conditions whereby each and every student receives what they need to develop their academic and social potential.  

 

  1. LES will improve kindergarten readiness through purposeful playing experiences by continuing Joyful Learning in grades PreK - 5th grades. 
  2. LES will increase opportunities to learn through consistently implementing a high-quality curriculum that reflects grade level expectations, focusing on early literacy and the science of reading by continuing EL Education. 
  3. LES will continue providing opportunities for students to demonstrate eligibility for the gifted/talented program.
  4. LES will maintain its focus on high quality tier 1 instruction in all classroom settings, including ML and special education classroom settings.
  5. LES instructional support teachers will prioritize time to learn and follow expectations set forth in weekly CLT meetings. 
  6. LES will continue to work toward increasing the percentage of teachers who are gifted endorsed. This will provide more teachers with strategies to accelerate and enrich learning for our gifted students and high achievers. 
  7. LES teachers will attend CLT two times weekly to support high quality Tier I instruction, small group instruction in math and reading, and successful remediation and enrichment. 
  8. LES will improve the computer science program by providing extended STEM opportunities for students to expand their collaborative learning time on the LES grounds.
  9. LES will continue to increase their learning time in our outdoor classroom.

Excellence 4.C - World-Class Communication and Engagement

Lawrenceville Elementary will improve two-way communication, engagement, and outreach to reach the target audiences of teachers, families, and the community.

Families

1. Grade levels will develop a plan for communication with families.

  •  ParentSquare and/or email communication.
  •  Use of Synergy to document parent communication.
  • Teachers and/or grade levels will send weekly newsletters to parents/families.

2. Posting will be made 2-3 times weekly to the LES social media sites to encourage more social media followers.

3. The digital outdoor marquee will be updated a minimum of two times monthly to share important communication with parents/families/community.
