Gwinnett County School District logo

Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

How will you measure growth?
Growth Factors (Baseline & Targets)
Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

Creating systems to streamline support ensures that each and every student gets what they need. MTSS addresses the whole child by identifying social, emotional, and academic needs and creating a cohesive plan to address both simultaneously.

We will refine systems and streamline support to ensure each student gets what they need by:

    1. Providing targeted remediation, enrichment, and acceleration through Academic One.

    2. Meeting monthly as an MTSS team to examine student screener, academic, and social/emotional data; draft academic and social/emotional support plans; implement interventions; monitor progress.

    3. Teaching students expected behaviors and implementing PBIS.

    4. Engaging students in goal-setting.

Grace Snell will increase the percentage of staff indicating positive responses on the Educational Effectiveness Survey towards the following domain:

Monitoring of Teaching and Learning
Staff SY 2024 Baseline: 74%
Staff SY 2025 Target: 77%

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

Grace Snell Middle School’s gifted population is underrepresented compared to like schools.

We will expand students' educational opportunities by...

    1. Increasing the percentage of students identified to receive gifted services.
    2. Increasing the number of staff with gifted, ESOL, and other endorsements

    3. Creating STEAM and CTAE opportunities for students

Grace Snell will increase our gifted population from 11% to 13%, ensuring all students receive six gifted (FTE) segments.

Excellence 4.B - Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness

As the future continues to evolve, we understand the importance of preparing students for post-secondary success. To do this, students must explore their interests and understand how they can leverage their strengths to create a successful future, whether in the workforce or post-secondary education.

We will increase the number of students performing at or above grade level in all content areas by:

    1. Engaging in weekly collaborative planning, with embedded peer observations and student work review

    2. Implementing the Grace Snell Instructional Framework (Gradual Release)

    3. Using data to engage students in teacher-led differentiated small-group instruction

    4. Engaging in targeted professional learning

    5. Providing opportunities for teachers to engage in peer observations to increase their instructional effectiveness.
