Gwinnett County School District logo

Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

How will you measure growth?
Growth Factors (Baseline & Targets)
Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

For healthy learning and development to take place, students must feel safe and supported across all domains of development—academic, cognitive, social-emotional, ethical, identity, and physical/mental health. This is more likely to happen when learning environments are structured in ways that support the whole child and are responsive to students’ strengths and needs.

  1. Analyze the structure and processes from the initial implementation of the MTSS process in School Year 2023-2024.  Recommendations for upgrades will be conducted by the Instructional Leadership Team.
  2. Create an MTSS Team to drive the work and ensure all elements of the recommendations for enhancements to the MTSS Process are implemented.  This team will oversee the process.
  3. Conduct monthly MTSS review using the AIR Rubric by the MTSS Team and the Administrative Team.
  4. Conduct quarterly Data Chats with grade level teams to identify supports and interventions for identified students.

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

Differentiated instruction is essential for meeting the diverse needs of Lovin Elementary School students. By tailoring teaching methods, materials, and assessments to accommodate different learning styles, abilities, and interests, we can enhance student engagement, motivation, and academic achievement. This approach fosters an inclusive learning environment where all Lovin students have the opportunity to succeed.

  1. Create a Professional Learning Framework to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to implement differentiated instruction effectively.
  2. Adjust Collaborative Learning Team time to be facilitated by the instructional coaching team.
  3. Create W.O.W. Days (Working on the Work) - Establish a 15 day rotation cycle for W.O.W. Days to define, design, and implement structures to facilitate differentiation and STEM integration.
  4. Create a Lovin Math vertical team.
  5. Support and Monitoring - Provide ongoing support and monitor the implementation of differentiated instruction:

    1. Establish a team of instructional coaches and mentors to support teachers in differentiation.
    2. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback on differentiation practices.  Collect data on LSPI Implementation monthly.
    3. Develop a system for teachers to reflect on their practices and share successes and challenges.

Excellence 4.C - World-Class Communication and Engagement

Family engagement is crucial for student success, as it fosters a supportive learning environment both at school and at home. Engaged families contribute to higher student achievement, improved attendance, better behavior, and a stronger school community. By increasing family engagement, we can build a partnership that supports the educational development and well-being of every student.

  1. Create a Three-Year Family Engagement Plan.

  2. Build Relationships - Establish strong, trusting relationships between families and school staff.

  3. Enhance Communication: Ensure clear, consistent, and two-way communication between the school and families.

  4. Conduct Inclusive Activities and Events - Plan and implement activities and events that are inclusive and welcoming to all families:

  5. Provide Support for Learning at Home - Equip families with the tools and resources they need to support their children's learning at home.

  6. Gather Feedback and develop a culture of “Continuous Improvement” - Gather and utilize feedback from families to improve engagement efforts continuously.
