Gwinnett County School District logo

Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

How will you measure growth?
Growth Factors (Baseline & Targets)
Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

Our goal is to reduce variability and increase the fidelity of High-Quality Tier 1 instruction implementation for all students, including targeted small groups, grade level curriculum, ongoing formative assessment, and progress monitoring.

  1.  We will collaborate with district staff to provide professional learning to our IRR co-teaching teams, and we will monitor implementation of best practices.
  2. Our coaches will deliver professional learning to all teachers for Instructional Conversations, as well as other strategies that promote quality student interactions throughout the school day.
  3. Our ML teachers will receive professional learning in best practices related to promoting language acquisition for our MLL students.
  4. We will collaborate with district staff to provide professional learning to our Alternate AKS teachers related to best practices in room set-up, scheduling, data collection, instruction, and behaviors.
  5. Our counseling team will monitor attendance on a regular basis and provide class and individual incentives for positive attendance.

Theory of Action for Student Achievement

If the CST monitors and provides guidance, support and feedback,

the principal sets the expectation and provides the structures for students to engage in academic conversations throughout the school day,

the APs will monitor CLTs and classroom instruction to ensure that teachers are implementing their CLT learning

The ICs will provide the learning needed to implement the instructional strategies across content areas

the teachers will provide structures for and support students as they engage in academic conversations throughout the school day

the students will engage in dialogue with peers and teachers throughout the school day

student outcome- students will be more active in their own learning while engaging in meaningful conversations with peers and teachers, resulting in higher levels of English language acquisition, greater confidence in the classroom, and higher levels of academic performance.
