Woodward Mill Elementary will identify academic and non-academic strengths, needs, and interests of each and every student to ensure whole learner, whole child focus.
Woodward Mill Elementary will reduce variability and increase the fidelity of high quality Tier 1 Instruction implementation for all students including targeted small groups, grade level curriculum, ongoing formative assessments and progress monitoring.
Woodward Mill Elementary teachers will participate in weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on teaching and learning to increase student achievement.
Each and every student will be formally assessed on a regular basis to identify their individual needs. Through platforms such as iReady and formative assessments, students will consistently be provided opportunities for enrichment and remediation based upon the results of the progress monitoring data.
Student learning will be individualized as much as possible through small group instruction.
Teachers will have high expectations and provide quality and engaging daily instruction linked to a learning target for each and every student. Teachers will follow the newly revised workshop models. Daily monitoring of instruction will occur with ongoing feedback to teachers.
Grading practices will be reviewed and revised to ensure alignment of both grade levels and GCPS policies. Clear naming of assignments and weights will provide clear communication amongst parents, teachers, administrators, and students.
Woodward Mill Elementary will continue to implement the GaMTSS process and use the GaMTSS Fidelity Tool to guide the process. The GaMTSS coordinator will receive ongoing training to help guide teachers and students.
New teachers will participate in the New Teacher Cohort (NTO) that will meet monthly under the guidance of veteran teachers. This cohort will provide ongoing professional, real time learning to support effective classroom strategies such as behavior management, meeting deadlines, and pacing knowledge.

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access
Woodward Mill Elementary will increase opportunities for students to demonstrate eligibility of gifted/talented programming.
Woodward Mill Elementary will increase students' opportunities to learn and achieve by consistently implementing a high-quality curriculum and instruction that reflect grade level expectations.
Gifted identified students as well as high-flying students will be taught by Gifted certified teachers.
iReady data will be reviewed for additional services including gifted screening.
The gifted teacher will be a full-time position.
Grades 3-5 will offer Enrichment Math.
Grade 4 will offer Enrichment Reading.
Grades 1-2 will offer Thinking Skills.
Homeroom teachers and IRR teachers will collaborate in PLCs and beyond to formulate small groups to move students along the continuum.
Instructional Coach will coach teachers and pull EIP students to move students along the continuum.
Lego Robotics Club will be provided to a select number of students after school.
Talent Development will be offered in Kindergarten via the Guided Play Room.
Joyful Learning will occur in primary grades.
ML teachers will work directly with identified students.
ML teachers will train members of the ML Committee (known as ML Representatives to deliver key strategies and redeliver information to each grade level).
ML students will continue to utilize Imagine Learning as needed.
Staff will attend workshops as well as district and locally led learning opportunities.

Excellence 4.C - World-Class Communication and Engagement
At Woodward Mill Elementary School, we believe our parents, teachers, and community members are crucial partners in maximizing the student experience and communication is key in making sure all informed are productive partners.
Woodward Mill Elementary School will complete the following tasks to ensure world-class communication:
- Weekly newsletters to parents (Cub Corner) and to teachers (The Mill).
Teachers will update Google Classroom and Parent Square to allow for meaningful parent engagement.
- Daily and/or Friday Folders.
- Recognize positive student behavior via PBIS Brag Tags, positive referrals, emails, or phone calls.
- PTA and school sponsored events.
- Principal one-on-one talks with staff members.
- Staff coffee with the principal.
- Regularly held School Council Meetings.
Identified Staff will attend professional developments including conferences to ascertain strategies for increasing family engagement.
Staff will engage families in workshops, learning opportunities, and schoolwide events to build their capacity.
