Gwinnett County School District logo

Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

How will you measure growth?
Growth Factors (Baseline & Targets)
Empathy 1.B - Staff and Student Well Being

Corley Elementary continues to make strides in professional learning and instructional practices. After reviewing survey data from both staff and students, it became clear that an increased focus on wellbeing is essential. As the school moves forward, prioritizing the wellbeing of both staff and students will be key to strengthening overall school culture and success.

  1. The Administrative and Counseling Teams will collaborate with Corley Elementary’s Student Council and Peer Leaders to gather student perspectives on school safety. Once established, these student groups will engage with their peers to better understand their thoughts, concerns, and needs related to maintaining a safe environment at Corley.
  2. The Counseling and Administrative Teams will meet at least once a month to identify and address support needs for students experiencing chronic absenteeism.
  3. The Instructional Leadership Team will work closely with the Administrative Team to better understand the collaborative needs of staff and grade-level teams. This will include gathering regular feedback from their respective teams each month to help identify areas where additional support is needed

  4. The Corley Elementary Counseling Team will collaborate with the Administrative Team to promote graduation and career awareness through small groups, classroom support, and partnerships with the local community.

Corley Elementary will increase the percentage of positive responses on the Educational Effectiveness Survey for the community.

Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

As Corley continues to support academic success and growth  for all students, as evidenced by instructional walkthrough observation data from the 2024-2025 school year, the need for an increased focus on supporting Multilingual Learners during Tier 1 instruction has become evident.

Additionally, while a majority of teachers demonstrated growth in planning and implementing targeted small group instruction in the 2025-2025 school year, ongoing support is needed to ensure consistency and effectiveness across all classrooms and for all students.

This focus will ensure that students are receiving equitable access to rigorous, grade-level content and that instructional practices are responsive to their individual learning needs.

  1. Corley’s professional learning focus will be centered around supporting Multilingual Learners in Tier 1 instruction.
  2. The Corley Administrative Team and/or Instructional Coaching team will conduct weekly walkthroughs with a focus on highly effective instructional practices that support MLs.

  3. Instructional walkthroughs and evaluations will be scheduled during Intervention and Small Group instructional times at least once monthly.

  4. During CLTs, small-group planning and scaffolding for Multilingual Learners will be part of the grade-level planning time.

  5. Through parent workshops and professional learning opportunities, the PIC will increase teachers’ and parents’ awareness of the resources available in the Family Engagement Center to support learning at home.

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

At Corley, we believe that all students are capable of mastering grade-level AKS, including Multilingual Learners. It is important that this belief is communicated and implemented consistently.  Equitable access to early intervention, enrichment, and services is a key component of this belief.

  1. Professional learning opportunities will be offered throughout the school year to help build teacher capacity in the areas of planning, and implementing effective instruction for Multilingual Learners, while also fostering a shared belief that all students can achieve academic success.
  2. The Gifted Contact will collaborate with teachers to create high quality gifted portfolios for the Gifted referral process.

  3. Grade level newsletters will be provided to families at the beginning of each month that include upcoming AKS, classroom activities, and opportunities for students and families. This will be accomplished through collaboration between the Admin team, Family Engagement Center, classroom teachers, and other stakeholders.
  4. Parents and young children aged birth to five will have an opportunity to participate in one of two weekly sessions of the Play 2 Learn program.
  5. Corley Elementary will offer Extended Learning Opportunities which could include remediation, enrichment, and Newcomer classes
  6. Corley ES will maximize the ESOL support schedule to include small-group support for newcomers daily.

Corley Elementary will increase the percentages of positive responses on the Educational Effectiveness Survey for students, staff, and the community.
