Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

At Ivy Creek we will reduce variability and increase the fidelity of High Quality Tier 1 instruction implementation for all students, including targeted small groups, grade level curriculum, ongoing formative assessments, and progress monitoring. 

  1. Teachers will participate in professional learning sessions and CLTs focused on High Quality Tier 1 instruction to increase student achievement. 

  2. Each grade level will have an Instructional Lead to ensure all lessons integrate multilingual teaching strategies and resources.
  3. We will administer universal screeners in Language Arts and Math three times yearly to inform enrichment and remediation.

  4. In partnership with the district office, we will support staff in implementing instructional strategies designed to ensure multilingual learners achieve academic and linguistic success.
  5. New teachers will participate in the Ivy Creek new teacher mentoring program and ongoing professional learning to support effective classroom strategies. 

Milestone Proficiency Rate - Ivy Creek  Elementary will increase the percentage of Proficient and or  Distinguished scores on Georgia Milestones.

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

At Ivy Creek we will increase students’ opportunities to learn and achieve by consistently implementing a high-quality curriculum that reflects grade level expectations, focusing on early literacy and science of reading, and new literacy standards. 

  1. We will continue to use peer observations, classroom walkthroughs, and feedback to enhance and monitor Tier 1 instruction, aiming to reduce variability between classrooms.
  2.  We will continue to offer two weekly Play2Learn sessions and one monthly Little Learners Academy session.

  3.  Students nearing qualification for gifted services will receive additional enrichment opportunities.

  4. Establish routine professional learning opportunities on ML best practices, new Language Arts AKS, and AI learning integration.

Excellence 4.A - Preferred Education Destination

Great schools build great communities. We want families to view GCPS as THE place for students to receive a high-quality education. We do this by focusing on individual student needs and anticipating skills students will need for their future success.

  1. Model Classrooms to serve as examples for showcasing best practices for teaching and learning. 

  2. The AI Innovator Team will meet monthly to effectively integrate AI into each classroom.
  3. Teachers will collaborate with our ITIC/AI Coach to create diverse AI-related learning experiences in our model AI Classroom.

  4. Establish the Ivy Creek Student Advisory.

  5. In addition to Art, Music, Health, and Physical Education, all students will continue to receive special instruction in Computer Science, STEM, and Media Arts.

  6. Expand school clubs to create more participation opportunities for kindergarten, first, and second-grade students.
