Gwinnett County School District logo

Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

How will you measure growth?
Growth Factors (Baseline & Targets)
Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

Dacula High and all of GCPS will use both observational, anecdotal, and performance data to ensure that every student has a clear path to content mastery

  1. Assistant Principals will give feedback around small group and differentiated instruction in the classroom. Professional development for teachers will also center on high quality Tier I instruction.
  2. Timely intervention assigned by teachers based on assessment data will be assigned to students during the Falcon30 advisement period. This will allow for extra support in areas of need during the school day.

  3. Advisement lessons in Falcon30 will be based on identified needs as determined by student surveys and feedback data.
  4. DHS will continued work on further developing our philosophy of mastery over time through Course Team conversations and professional development sessions.

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

Dacula High and all of GCPS will expand student opportunities to engage in and have access to high quality, rigorous, and culturally relevant curriculum and enrichment activities.

1. Increasing number of ML sections and ML endorsed teachers in order to increase ML student success.

2. Continuing to increase the number of gifted certified teachers as well as identify gifted students will ensure students have access to enriched learning opportunities when appropriate.

4. Continuing to increase Advanced Placement participation and scores through AP Club during Falcon30 for students and focused time for Advanced Placement teachers to work together will provide opportunities for success.

5. Increase opportunities for students to earn diploma seals and complete pathways in areas such as academics, fine arts, CTAE, and civic engagement.

6. Focus on Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)

7. Georgia MTSS rubrics will be used to increase student engagement and voice.
