Gwinnett County School District logo

Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

Growth Factors (Baseline & Targets)
Empathy 1.B - Staff and Student Well Being

Beaver Ridge ES is committed to creating an environment where every student and staff member feels a strong sense of belonging and psychological safety. When individuals feel valued and supported, they are more likely to thrive both academically and socially. Increasing positive responses on the EES Survey serves as an indicator of this supportive climate and is expected to contribute to reductions in disciplinary concerns, decreases in emotional distress, stronger connections and commitment to the school community, and greater motivation for self-improvement.

  1. Implement SEL and PBIS strategies through classroom instruction, Character Strong lessons, counseling supports, and theatre specials to address students’ emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal needs.
  2. Provide professional learning opportunities for staff focused on SEL, while creating regular opportunities for collaboration, vertical alignment, and open communication with administration.
  3. Foster a positive school culture by celebrating students and staff through recognition activities and events.
  4. Establish regular opportunities for staff to engage in open communication with administration to build trust and shared commitment.
  5. School counselors will collaborate with teachers and administrators to monitor student attendance, identify patterns of chronic absenteeism, and provide tiered interventions.  In addition, counselors will implement preventive lessons and small-group supports that emphasize the importance of consistent attendance for academic and social success.

Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

Beaver Ridge Elementary is committed to fostering meaningful academic growth in both Reading and Math for all students, in alignment with GCPS Progress and the district’s strategic plan, Our Blueprint for the Future. A central goal of the school improvement plan is to reduce the number of students performing significantly below grade level (Tier III) while increasing the number of students demonstrating strong academic growth within Tier I. Through the implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), the school will provide targeted interventions for students who are furthest behind, while promoting accelerated learning and progress for all students. This approach ensures that every student has equitable opportunities to achieve their full academic potential.

  1. Regularly review student performance data on iReady and other formative assessments to identify students in Tier II and Tier III.
  2. Track growth trends to inform instructional planning and intervention effectiveness.
  3. Deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction in Reading and Math for all students.
  4. Provide targeted interventions through MTSS for students performing below grade level, with Tier II and Tier III supports monitored and adjusted regularly.
  5. Implement enrichment opportunities for students in Tier I to maintain and accelerate growth.
  6. Conduct ongoing professional development focused on data-driven instruction, effective intervention strategies, and MTSS implementation.
  7. Facilitate grade-level and content-area collaborative planning (CLT) to align interventions and ensure consistency across classrooms.
  8. Communicate academic growth goals, progress monitoring results, and support strategies with families.
  9. Provide resources and workshops to empower families to support learning at home.
  10. Schedule weekly Learning Walks to monitor teaching and learning and provide feedback using the LSPI/CLT Instructional Observation Instrument.
  11. Instructional Coaches and the Instructional Technology & Innovation Coach will conduct coaching cycles and facilitate opportunities for peer observations and feedback to strengthen instructional practices.
