Gwinnett County School District logo

Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

How will you measure growth?
Growth Factors (Baseline & Targets)
Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

Arcado ES will utilize a framework that supports the academic and non-academic needs of each and every student to identify and improve the focus and strengths of the whole child.

Arcado's Theory of Action:  A schoolwide high-quality level of instruction will be implemented in teacher-led small groups

This theory is grounded in the belief that smaller instructional settings allow for actions that:

  • More individualized attention
  • Immediate feedback
  • Stronger student-teacher relationships
  • Instruction tailored to specific learning gaps or strengths
  1. Teachers will meet twice a week with their Collaborative Learning Teams (CLT) to plan instruction, analyze data, create assessments, and engage in professional development.
  2. Arcado will work to improve its CLT Implementation and development of teacher practices.

  3. Teachers, GaMTSS, and the RTI coordinator will meet monthly to monitor identified students' progress (Kid Talks/Tier II Intervention Talks)and determine the next steps.
  4. Select teachers will engage in coaching cycles by a math and literacy coach to improve instructional practices.
  5. Teachers will work with individuals and small groups consistently using formative data to guide their instruction.
  6. Arcado will utilize a dedicated Intervention Block.
  7. The support staff will work to improve student groups assessment data for Gifted, ESOL, and EIP students.
  8. Arcado will support ML students through Imagine Learning and Sail and Soar instructional materials.
  9. Arcado's 2nd grade and ESOL teachers will engage in Instructional Conversations through MERIT and participate in vertical learning with the Parkview Cluster.
  10. ML students will participate in an ELT program through Title III funding resources.
  11. Arcado will continue to work with the PBIS Team to enhance student motivation and learning for appropriate behavior.
