Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

By prioritizing staff and student well-being, GIVE Center East will create an environment conducive to enhanced employee performance, improved learned and student outcomes, as well as long-term success for all stakeholders. GIVE Center East will use GIVE Focus, Social Emotional Learning, Trauma Informed Care, and Restorative Practices to hone in on student and staff self-care, physical and mental health; nurturing a supportive community where individuals feel safe, supported, and motivated to contribute positively. 

Student

  1. 100+ minutes of Advisement per week (focus on communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making)
  2. Accountability Coaching Expert (A.C.E.) student check-in during Advisement

Equity 2.A - Multi-tiered System of Supports

GIVE Center East will use observational, anecdotal, performance, and student growth data to implement a comprehensive, fully operational framework of support to address academic and non-academic student needs, thus removing barriers to success. GIVE Center East will ensure that every student demonstrates critical thinking skills and has a clear path to academic and behavior outcomes. 

  1. 5 GIVE Center East teachers will be engaging in the Modern Classroom Summer Institute, meeting a total of 30 hours from June-July 2025 to reinforce the implementation of research best practices that aim to enhance the individualized student experience and intervention process at GIVE Center East
  2. From September 2025 to May 2026, GIVE Center East teachers will engage in 9 Modern Classroom Professional Development sessions focused on the areas of Lesson Design, Blended Learning, Self-Paced Learning, and Mastery Learning
  3. 360 minutes per month of Kid Talk team meetings that focus on individualized academic and behavior interventions to implement for at risk students
  4. Monthly parent meetings will occur in a tiered manner to support our most at risk, prioritized students
  5. MTSS Data Team will convene once per month for 90 minutes to monitor student progress and devise additional data-driven, individualized interventions to increase student learning and behavior outcomes in the classroom
  6. Daily Check In/Check Out interventions for select students
  7. Reflect and Restore program will emphasize re-teaching GCPS and campus expectations and the benefits of sound decision making. GIVE Center East students will have a restorative re-entry to class (when applicable)

  2. As a measure to increase students' cohort graduation rate, GIVE Center East will increase the percentage of full-time students in grade 9-12 that earn 3.0 credits per semester by 10% in 2025-2026; 80% of full-time students in grades 9-12 deficient 3.0 or more credits at time of enrollment (or start of school year), will recover 2.0 credits by May 2025.
  3. On the 2025-2026 Georgia Milestones and District Assessment, GIVE Center East will decrease the percent of students scoring in the Beginning category in each EOG and EOC subject area by 10%
  4. On the 2025-2026 Georgia Milestones and District Assessment, GIVE Center East will increase the percent of students scoring on the Proficient category in each EOG and EOC subject area by 50% over the 2024-2025 school year. 

 

Equity 2.B - Opportunity and Access

GIVE Center East will ensure that students—many of whom may face academic, behavioral, or socio-emotional challenges—have equitable pathways to success, both during and beyond their time at GIVE Center East.

1. Credit Recovery Programs

      • Flexible, self-paced modules that help students recover lost credits and stay on track for graduation.

2. Online Learning Platforms

      • 24/7 access to virtual classrooms and learning resources to support various learning styles and schedules.

3. Gwinnett Dual Enrollment Partnerships

      • Enabling students to earn college credit or certifications while still in high school.

4. Work-Based Learning Programs

      • Internships, apprenticeships, or industry-partnered programs like GIVEWorx (construction training, for example).

5. Guest Speakers & Career Fairs

      • Bringing real-world voices and industries into the school to expand students’ perspectives and networks.

6. On-site Mental Health Counseling

      • Access to licensed therapists or partnerships with agencies like Viewpoint Counseling.

7. Daily Advisory & SEL Instruction

Effectiveness 3.A - Results-Based Evaluation System

GIVE Center East will work to redefine the inputs, behaviors, and outcomes that determine standards for student success, our Results-Based Evaluation System. GIVE Center East will increase the percent of students in grades 10-12 that earn credits to reestablish on track graduation status with their graduation cohort. 

  1. AVID based instruction that utilizes the WICOR model as well as disciplinary and content based literacy to improve student reading, writing, organization, and thinking skills
  2. Credit and course recovery classes prioritized during the academic day as well as during extended learning time opportunities
  3. Weekly observation cycle conducted by administrators that focus on growth-evoking feedback to maintain and improve instruction
  4. Observation cycle schedule that supports administrators in prioritizing classroom visits. Each AP will have at least 45 minutes per day of uninterrupted time allocated for learning walks
  5. Peer Observations-school wide observation protocol for teachers to give and receive feedback from their peers
  6. Three collaborative learning and professional development opportunities per month. These meetings champion data analysis and assessing evidence of best instructional practices.

Excellence 4.C - World-Class Communication and Engagement

At GIVE Center East we believe all stakeholders need to be informed and given the opportunity to provide input for shared decision making. We will accomplish this through transparent, two-way communication to build stakeholder trust and confidence. 

  1. Build our parents' capacity to support their child's academic achievement by implementing family engagement activities identified in The Plan/The Promise (brochures available on site, family engagement meeting information shared on our website)
  2. Progress reports sent home every two weeks
  3. Increased communication between teachers and parents (positive referrals, bi-weekly parent newsletters, quarterly parent conferences, etc.)
  4. Title I information and resource meetings for parents to better bridge the home school connection
  5. Maintain the number of on-site mentorship programs
