Accountability and flexibility are hallmarks of Gwinnett County Public Schools' success. Key to that success is ensuring that each school community understands the progress being made by its schools, as well as what plans will drive improvement. Each school creates a collaborative Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) to increase student achievement results, with targeted goals based on the four strategic priorities within the district’s Blueprint for the Future: Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. All schools across the district will focus on goals 2A- Multi-tiered Systems of Support and 2B- Opportunity and Access. Additionally, schools are required to select one goal from each of the other strategic priorities. LSPI goals are dynamic, like our schools, and are updated to reflect changes that occur in schools. Multiple data points are used to determine areas needing improvement and to identify specific, measurable, annual objectives. Schools then determine how to use research-based strategies to achieve these goals, using flexibility as needed. The LSPI development process involves teachers, parents, students, and community members, so the entire school community has the opportunity to be involved in conversations about school improvement.

Central Gwinnett will identify the academic and non-academic strengths, needs, and interests of each student to ensure a whole-learner, whole-child focus (PBIS & MTSS).

Central Gwinnett High School will reduce variability and increase the fidelity of high-quality tier 1 instruction implementation for all students, including targeted small groups, grade-level curriculum, ongoing formative assessments, and progress monitoring.

Central Gwinnett High School will increase students' opportunities to learn and achieve by consistently implementing a high-quality curriculum that reflects grade-level expectations.

Central Gwinnett High School will increase opportunities for students to demonstrate eligibility for gifted/talented programming.

  1. Utilize Equal Opportunity Schools to increase participation in AP and Dual Enrollment
  2. Reviewing PSAT data to identify students for additional services, including gifted screening

Central Gwinnett High School will promote the value of multiple pathways to success and support students in identifying their strengths and interests to choose the best path for them.

 Central Gwinnett High School will intentionally incorporate opportunities for students to develop competencies defined by the Portrait of a Graduate.

  1. Portrait of a Graduate
  2. Promote CTAE pathway completion initiatives, EOPA participation, etc.
  3. Host Workforce Wednesdays, where industry professionals and military recruiters are stationed around the commons to answer questions from students
  4. Facilitate college visits for juniors and seniors
  5. Promote Maxwell and Grayson opportunities to juniors and seniors
  6. Facilitate college fairs, FAFSA completion assistance, Dual Enrollment completion assistance, etc.

  9. Facilitate Credit Recovery and School Plus Programs for course completion

Family Engagement/Building Parent Capacity -

We will build our parents' capacity to support their children's academic achievement by implementing the activities identified in The Plan/The Promise.

  1. Communication with our parents through Knightly Notes, Parent Square, and our staff outreach
  2. Parents are given the opportunity for input, feedback, and support as a part of every family engagement session.
  3. Title I planning meeting will solicit feedback and input on parent engagement opportunities and funding for student resources.
  4. Parent conferences allow teachers and parents to discuss student success and progress.
  5. PTSA and Team SOTA will facilitate events in partnership with students, faculty, and administration.
